Haining Farm Overview
The Haining Farm restoration project created new habitat for the critically endangered Helmeted Honeyeater and the endangered Lowland Leadbeater's Possum. Working with Australian Ecosystems, who planted several hundred thousand indigenous trees, shrubs and understorey plants, this project required specialist planning, strong environmental awareness and close collaboration with Zoos Victoria and Greening Australia to deliver positive ecological outcomes and maintain new plantings through to establishment.
The project has contributed significantly to the restoration and expansion of habitat for some of Australia's rarest wildlife, while demonstrating our capability to deliver large-scale ecological restoration projects in highly sensitive conservation environments.

Restoration Results
The project established more than 170,000 indigenous plants, expanding and reconnecting habitat for two of Australia's rarest species: the Helmeted Honeyeater and the Lowland Leadbeater's Possum. Complex planting operations were delivered at up to 20,000 plants per day with minimal disturbance to a highly sensitive conservation environment.
Through careful planning, weed control and ongoing maintenance to establishment, the new plantings have matured into resilient habitat, strengthening ecological connectivity and supporting the long-term recovery of threatened wildlife in the Upper Yarra.
